The concept of the tiny house was born in the United States during the 1929 economic crisis. Advocating a simple and minimalist alternative lifestyle, these small wooden constructions are designed with the same comfort and insulation requirements as a real house, but on a smaller scale ! The tiny house has a very limited environmental impact and encourage you to get rid of unnecessary things.
Parenthèse is part of the Social Economy : Parenthèse pursues societal objectives while promoting local development through the creation of activity, employment and social ties.
Parenthèse is committed to a sustainable tourism respectful of the environment. Formerly, the land was a trailer camp. We transformed this place to restore the natural environment. Thanks to l’Atelier fertile, expert in permaculture, we reforested according to the Miyawaki method by planting 2,000 trees ! In order to achieve food self-sufficiency, we have grown a forest garden and a vegetable garden. Existing infrastructure has been renovated or converted.
Creating a space for dialogue between nature and culture is at the center of Parenthèse’s vision. Artists and authors play a crucial role within our society. They take a singular look at our condition and our environment by putting a part of them into their work.
We are Samantha and Antoine. In 2019, we put our lives on hold for a great journey during which we lived in a nomadic way. During our around-the-world trip, we experimented many alternative lifestyles. When returning to Paris, everything was different. Little by little, the idea of «Parenthèse» made its way…
We began to build our project by bringing together the most significant experiences of our journey. One day, we met Bruno, who was looking for buyers to transform an old campsite. We fell in love with this haven of peace and the village of Chambon-la-Forêt.
In the summer of 2020, being young parents of a two-month-old baby, we left everything to go live there. Through reflection and hard work, we conceptualized our ideal tiny house. Little by little, a whole team was created around Parenthèse, to give life to this unique place !
